Read the governing requirements first
Declarations, rules, design standards, permits, and prior guidance can affect what must be submitted. Approval requirements vary by association and project.
Submit a complete scope
Plans should explain location, dimensions, materials, colors, contractor, schedule, access, drainage, utilities, and any impact on common elements.
- Existing-condition photos
- Drawing or marked plan
- Product specifications
- Contractor insurance when required
- Permit status when applicable
Written approval comes before work
A submitted form, contractor deposit, verbal discussion, or prior similar project is not approval. Wait for the association’s written decision and follow every stated condition.
